Mar Gregorios ( Geevarghese Mar Gregorios) was a bhishop of the malankara Orthodox Syrian Church,Kerala. He was born on 15th june 1848 in distinguished priestly family, in the village of Mulanthuruthy near Coachin,Kerala.

His mother died when he was a small boy and since then he was under the loving care of his elder sister.

From childhood days he followed a very disciplined life which was enriched by prayer and fasting.

Though his continueous prayes and fasting he made it clear to the world that prayer and devotion in mightier than worldly possessions.

Due to his saintly life of prayer he became the brightest jewel of the Universal Orthodox Syrian Church.

He passed away at the age of 54 on 2nd November 1902.He established various churches and was a motivator to establish schools in different parts of Kerala for the overall progress of the church as well as the society.

St. Thomas School Mulanthuruthy, M.G.M. at Kunnamkulam, M.G.M. at thiruvalla are some of the well known school established by saintly bishop,Mar Gregorios, in late 1890’s .

Mar Gregorios was very keen in maintaining relationship with all sections of people irrespective of caste or community.

He always showed love and caredfor the poor and suffering.He was very particular for the thruthfulness and helping the poor.
